Creating new technology for the military has never been an easy task. Building computers and other devices that last against the forces of nature and men involves a lot of engineering and a bit of creativity. Perhaps that is why so many worldwide technology and defense firms have begun to work together to push the newest and latest technologies into practical use for the military.

One common question is whether or not smart phones or tablets have seen widespread military application. According to DRS Tactical Systems, a tablet computer was already in service with most NATO militaries. The tablet featured many of the same capabilities and specifications of the i Pad, but without the glossy exterior. The tablet was designed to last in adverse conditions and take a lot of concussive force before sustaining any damage.

These tablets, while a bit larger than the consumer edition, are meant to be carried everywhere on the battlefield. They are equipped with proprietary military software that interacts with GPS data and military satellites to collect and display contextual information about a mission. Read the rest of this entry »

For those who follow cutting-edge technology news, it’s no secret that home automation technology is becoming more and more popular. “Smart homes” are not only cool, but also offer an immense amount of functionality that cannot be matched by homes that do not incorporate automation. As technology advances, trends come and go. Most people would agree, however, that it’s safe to say that home automation is here to stay, and that it will only become more and more advanced as time goes on. The following are some of the coolest trends in home automation technology for your home.

Automated Drapery Systems

Hate tying up the drapes each and every morning? You aren’t alone, which is why automated drapery systems are quickly finding themselves in more and more homes each year. With just the push of a button, you can command your drapes into their upright positions seamlessly and without effort. Automated drapery systems are not only cool looking, they are just another functional way to streamline your day.

Electronic Sconces

While traditional sconces are finding themselves getting phased out of homes as each year passes, electronic sconces are gaining in popularity, ending up in some of the most modern and progressive homes on the planet. LED powered sconces not only save on electricity, they are able to provide a unique and warm lighting that cannot be reproduced by any other type of fixture. To add a touch of class and progressiveness to your home, electronic sconces are the perfect solution. Read the rest of this entry »

It is easy to come to be overwhelmed by the increase in technology advances being offered to today’s firms. It appears you cannot open up a newspaper or magazine without yet one more bit of cutting edge technology rearing its head.

On the favourable side, the technology market is an enormously competitive one and therefore immediately after the release of a new product or service we very often see a sharp decrease in price. This naturally is excellent news to the potential customer.

Below I have outlined three really different types of modern technology that provide very different advantages to both small and large organisations.

1. My favourite is Internet Protocol Television, better known as IPTV. IPTV is among those genuinely useful services that quietly gets on with its job in the background of everyday life. Essentially it is a digital television system that is delivered by means of Internet Protocol technological innovation. A good illustration showing this in action is the BBC iPlayer, which as I’m sure you’re mindful of is a procedure for watching Television programmes on the web. If you have ever paid your hotel charge making use of the TV Set from the comfort of your hotel room, you had again just seen IPTV in action.

Other great applications are such things as digital signage which all of us see on a daily basis in train stations, airport terminals and also supermarkets. You’ll find dozens more wonderful applications which we have not got time to deal with now.

2. Mobile Repeater Systems are a further unsung hero of the technology world. This is the system for boosting problematic cell phone network coverage in troublesome regions. Common instances would be: basements, areas with extremely thick concrete walls and interfering steel girders. The system will work similar to a TV aerial by amplifying the signal to enable superior coverage. This puts an end to the woes of many companies whose workplaces are positioned in the heart of a problematic cellular network. Read the rest of this entry »
